Honoring Service: Veterans Day Ceremony 2024 at Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial
On November 11, 2024, Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial (MNVM) hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony, a deeply meaningful event dedicated to honoring all who have served in the United States Armed Forces. Despite the crisp autumn air, visitors from across the region gathered at the memorial grounds in a shared spirit of respect, gratitude, and remembrance.
This year’s keynote address was delivered by Clay Hahs, MNVM Board President and proud U.S. Navy Veteran. His remarks reflected on the importance of honoring veterans not just with words, but with action through remembrance, support, and community. Drawing from his own service and leadership experience, Mr. Hahs reminded guests that the freedoms we enjoy today have been hard-won by generations of brave men and women. His message resonated with both Veterans and civilians alike, underscoring the mission of MNVM to ensure that their sacrifices are never forgotten.
The ceremony opened with a heartfelt invocation led by Chris Wibbenmeyer, who set the tone for the morning with a prayer that invited reflection and unity. His words reminded all in attendance of the solemn purpose of the day: to honor those who have worn the uniform of our nation and to recognize the deep impact of their service.
The program also included patriotic music and a moment of silence to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice. Veterans from multiple branches of the military stood proudly as their service songs were played, creating a powerful moment of shared pride and connection.
In addition to the formal ceremony, visitors were encouraged to walk the grounds, visit America’s Wall, and engage with the stories displayed throughout the memorial’s museum and exhibits. Volunteers and staff were on hand to answer questions and thank veterans and their families personally.
As always, MNVM’s Veterans Day Ceremony serves not only as a tribute, but also as a call to remember every day the courage and dedication of our veterans. We extend our sincere gratitude to all who attended and contributed to making the day meaningful.
