Memorial Day 2026 at Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial
Memorial Day is a time when our nation pauses to remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. It is a day of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for the freedoms secured through their sacrifice. It is also a time to remember the Gold Star Families who continue carrying loss every day and the empty chairs that remind us of those who never came home.
At Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial, Memorial Day is deeply personal.
For years, visitors to America’s Wall have left behind photographs, handwritten notes, flags, flowers, patches, and other meaningful mementos in honor of loved ones remembered on the Wall. Over time, these items have quietly become part of the story of our National Memorial. Each item represents someone loved, someone missed, and someone Never Forgotten.
Our staff has carefully preserved these heartfelt tributes, understanding that every object tells a story of sacrifice, remembrance, healing, and connection.
This Memorial Day weekend, those mementos and memorabilia once again became part of our Memorial Day Display in the Welcome Center. Visitors had the opportunity to view these deeply personal items and reflect on the stories behind the names etched on America’s Wall.
More than 200 visitors spent Memorial Day at Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial this year. Families, Veterans, and community members gathered to honor those who served, reflect on the meaning of sacrifice, and spend time in peaceful remembrance.
Moments like these are only possible because of the continued support of those who believe in our mission.
Thank you to everyone who visited our National Memorial this Memorial Day weekend and to all who continue helping preserve these stories for future generations. Together, we ensure our Veterans and their families are Never Forgotten.
