Memory from a Loved One: 

In 1962, I was the S-1 clerk of the 27th Transportation Battalion at Fort Eustis, Virginia. Tom Coldren was a PFC and my assistant at the time and ready to become the S-1 clerk. I was discharged August 31, 1962, and continued to correspond with Tom as I pursued my career and he was working to become an officer, first as a warrant officer wanting to be a helicopter pilot, which he failed to become due to sinus problems. It was a very sad event of my life when I was notified that Tom, as a First Lieutenant, was killed in action in Vietnam on May 23, 1967. –Joseph Moser
