Nearly 3,500 Americans left their mark on Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial

PERRYVILLE, MO (March 26, 2018): On Sunday, March 25, Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial
(MNVM) hosted the Mark of Remembrance, allowing members of the Perryville and surrounding
communities to leave a permanent message of support on the concrete supporting structure of the
Vietnam Memorial Wall before it is enclosed in granite.

Nearly 3,500 people attended the event, which took place at the Memorial site in Perryville, MO. Special
markers were provided to those in attendance to ensure their messages remain permanent like the
Memorial itself. The event raised close to $17,000, which will be used by Missouri’s National Veterans
Memorial Fund to continue building out the Memorial.

“The idea for this Memorial began as the vision of local veterans who wanted to come together to give
back to those who served,” said Nancy Guth, Executive Director of Missouri’s National Veterans
Memorial Fund. “There are many ways to honor veterans, and we are hoping to give Americans the
opportunity to honor their veteran in a way that is personal to them.”

Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial Fund, the non-profit organization that is building the Memorial,
is based in Perryville and is dedicated to honoring all our nation’s veterans throughout history.
“Although it’s still early in the construction process, you can really feel the passion behind this project,”
said Mike Lundy, President and CEO of MNVM Fund. “It’s going to take a groundswell of support – like
what we saw at this event – from local communities and beyond to make our vision a reality.”

This Memorial will include a full-scale black granite model of the Vietnam Wall identical to that in
Washington D.C., scenic views, a museum highlighting the stories of America’s service members, a
10,000 square foot Veteran’s Hall for events and special occasions, an interfaith chapel, a scattering oak
grove, cemetery and more.
