The Governor of Missouri visited and spoke at Perryville’s preeminent memorial for all veterans

PERRYVILLE, MO (August 22, 2018) ― Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial (MNVM) hosted Governor
Mike Parson during his recent visit to Perryville. Gov. Parson has consistently supported his fellow
veterans during his time in public service, and appreciated the opportunity to speak at the Memorial
about veteran’s issues and job creation efforts.

“We are very excited to host Gov. Parson at Missouri’s National Veterans Memorial and show him all the
progress that’s been made since his first visit to the site in 2017,” said Nancy Guth, executive director of
MNVM. “As a fellow veteran, we know Gov. Parson shares our passion for honoring and remembering
those who served our country.”

The Memorial is still in its construction phase, and the Vietnam Memorial Wall – identical to that in
Washington, D.C. ― will be completed later this year. In addition, two buildings designed to serve as the
reception area for visitors are completed. These buildings currently host weekly gatherings with local
veterans and provide a space for other community events. During his visit, Gov. Parson got the chance
to learn more about this nonprofit dedicated to honoring our nation’s veterans and to speak with local
supporters of the effort.

“I am so proud to have this world-class Memorial to our nation’s veterans right here in Missouri,” Gov.
Parson said. “This project reflects Missourians’ values and our appreciation for service members. We
look forward to hosting visitors from across the country when the Memorial is complete.”

MNVM is working with supportive individuals, businesses and organizations to raise the funds needed to
bring a preeminent veterans memorial to Perryville. When completed, the Memorial will include a
museum highlighting the stories of America’s service members, a 10,000 square-foot Veteran’s hall for
events and special occasions, a chapel for all faiths, a reflecting pool, a bell tower, a cemetery and more.
MNVM invites everyone to experience 46 acres of themed gardens that provide a quiet and tranquil
opportunity to reflect and honor those who served.
